Intensive Outpatient

Evening IOP in Colorado.

Structured intensive outpatient treatment scheduled after the workday, so keeping your job, your classes, and your household does not mean putting off care.

What it is

The same IOP, on an evening schedule.

Evening IOP is The Redpoint Center's intensive outpatient program on a schedule that starts after the workday. Same level of care, same clinicians, same group and individual therapy. What changes is when you show up.

Intensive outpatient sits in the middle of the continuum of care: more support than a weekly therapy hour, without living at a facility. Federal treatment guidance describes it as roughly nine or more hours of structured programming a week spread over three to five days. Redpoint's IOP runs three to five days a week, and the evening track runs three of them. A national review published in Psychiatric Services found that 50 to 70 percent of intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization participants reported abstinence at follow-up.

Not everyone in this program is treating substance use. We treat mental health conditions on their own, and when substance use is part of the picture we treat both together, including alcohol, opioids and fentanyl, and meth and other stimulants.

  • You work a standard daytime schedule and cannot take a weekday morning off
  • You are a student with daytime classes, labs, or clinicals
  • You run a household and need the childcare hours covered before you can leave
  • You are stepping down from PHP and returning to work at the same time

Sessions and education for the people at home, when your care team agrees it will help.

Co-occurring care

Anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and trauma treated alongside recovery rather than after it.

Case management and coaching

Practical help with the logistics that derail treatment, plus recovery coaching between sessions.

Medication management

Medical and psychiatric care overseen by our Medical Director, Ryan Hashem, MD.

Evening care, covered like any other IOP

Work, school, family

Treatment that does not cost you the rest of it.

Leaving a job, dropping a semester, or handing off a household is not a neutral cost. It is often the exact reason people put off treatment, and it strips away the routine and income that recovery leans on. SAMHSA's working definition of recovery names purpose as one of its four dimensions: meaningful daily activities such as a job, school, volunteerism, or family caretaking.

An evening schedule is how we keep that intact. You work your day, you come in, you go home. Family support sessions run during the week and families are encouraged to take part, though your care team decides that with you rather than for you.

  • Keep your job and your income while you are in treatment
  • Stay enrolled through the semester instead of withdrawing
  • Cover daytime childcare and caregiving the way you already do
  • Sleep at home every night of the program

Good to know

Evening IOP questions, answered.

What is an evening IOP?

An evening IOP is an intensive outpatient program scheduled after the standard workday, so treatment does not cost you a job, a class schedule, or a household during the day. At The Redpoint Center it is the same program as our daytime IOP: the same clinicians, the same group and individual therapy, three evenings a week.

What time do evening sessions start?

Start times depend on the location and the group you join, so the honest answer is to ask when you call. Our IOP runs sessions in the mornings or the evenings. Morning groups run three to five days a week and the evening track runs three, and admissions will tell you the current evening times in Greeley, Glenwood Springs, or virtually before you commit to anything.

Where does Redpoint offer evening IOP?

Every Redpoint office runs an evening IOP, so you are not limited to one or two sites. Greeley and Glenwood Springs run evening intensive outpatient exclusively, meaning the whole clinic is built around that hour. Fort Collins, Boulder, Longmont, and Thornton run both evening and daytime, so you can switch tracks later without changing clinicians. Virtual IOP covers the rest of the state with morning and evening options. Call (303) 219-0973 and we will point you to the closest one.

Can I keep working while I am in evening IOP?

Yes. Keeping your job is the reason the evening track exists. Sessions are scheduled after the workday, three evenings a week, and your care team builds the schedule around your shifts rather than the other way around.

Is evening IOP the same as daytime IOP?

Yes, in everything that matters clinically. Same level of care, same clinicians, and the same group and individual therapy, case management, recovery coaching, family support, medication management, and alumni support. Only the hour changes. For the full program detail, see our intensive outpatient program page.

What conditions does evening IOP treat?

Evening IOP treats substance use disorders alongside the mental health conditions that so often come with them. That includes anxiety disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder; depressive disorders including major depressive disorder, persistent depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder; eating disorders; personality disorders; schizophrenia; drug-induced psychosis; and seasonal affective disorder.

Does insurance cover evening IOP?

Most major plans cover intensive outpatient treatment, and evening sessions are the same level of care as our daytime program. The Redpoint Center verifies your benefits at no cost and explains any out-of-pocket amount before you start, so there are no surprises. You can verify your insurance online or call (303) 219-0973.

What if I work nights or a rotating shift?

Then an evening group may not be your answer, and we would rather say so than put you on a schedule you cannot keep. Our IOP also runs morning sessions, and virtual IOP offers morning and evening options from anywhere in Colorado. Call (303) 219-0973 and we will work out what actually fits your week.
