Samantha Spencer, LPCC, comes from a background studying Human and Organizational Development (BS, 2018), which led her to work in a crisis shelter for adolescents. There she witnessed the power of person-centered and trauma-informed mental health treatment to enhance residents’ sense of meaning, value, and wellness. She developed a passion to continue this work and obtained a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in 2025.
Her experiences in the field include answering phones on a 24/7 crisis hotline, as well as working as a therapist in a County Jail. In the jail environment, Samantha worked with clients in English and Spanish on a diverse range of mental health, substance use, and case management goals. Her approach to counseling incorporates elements that address the mind, body, environment, relationships, and spirit of each unique client. She specializes in a Relational-Cultural approach to counseling that considers the client within their culture and context, while also incorporating mindfulness-based and Solution-Focused elements. Outside of work, Samantha can be found sewing herself something to wear, enjoying the sunshine, snowboarding, or spending time with her family and friends.
