You can also ask for a referral from someone you trust, like a doctor or close friend. Depending on the type of support you need, there are different approaches that may benefit you. For example, if you are in relationship struggles, having a therapist who understands attachment theory is a great place to start. If you are experiencing trauma or traumatic stress, a therapist who specializes in trauma is best. Think of a therapist as a wise friend who only wants the best for you. If you try it and don’t like it, try another therapist. Maybe therapy can help you get out of a rut or it will become a lifelong part of your routine, either way, it’s definitely worth a solid try.
